Eddie Bryant McClendon, age 65, of Marianna passed away May 22, 2011, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was a native of Sneads, but lived most of his life in Marianna. He proudly served his country in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He retired from the Department of Corrections and the Florida National Guard after many years of service. He was extremely proud of his Native American heritage and served on the Northwest Florida Creek Indian Council.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Collie McClendon and Marguerite McClendon; three brothers, Sol and Jimmy Bass and Charles McClendon; and one sister, Marlene Chessher.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Charlotte Tatum McClendon; his daughter, Meaghan Shawnee McClendon; and his son, Charles McClendon, of Dothan, Alabama. He is also survived by his aunt, Minnie Bell Waldon; his mother-in-law, Margie Tatum of Marianna; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Austin and Susan Tatum, and Tommy and Dawn Tatum, all of Tallahassee, FL, Wade and Carolyn Skipper of Kynesville, and David and Alethea Jones of Marianna; a sister, three grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 10 AM at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Ridge, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Covenant Hospice of Marianna.
